Are you aware of the thoughts you think? Are some of them misleading — perhaps even self-sabotaging? As graphic designers, we face creative, technical, internal, and people challenges daily. But we have the power to overcome those challenges if are first willing to admit that our beliefs may be limiting, and then work to change those thoughts to ones that will move us forward.

Here are 12 thoughts that might be keeping you stuck in your design journey:

1. No one is available to help me grow

Truth: There are hundreds, if not thousands of online and in-person design groups that are ready and willing to support your growth. There are great books, podcasts, courses, and mentors. The resources are all around you if you are willing to look for them and have the courage to engage.

2. All the good design jobs are taken

Truth: There are many jobs posted each day across multiple platforms. There are job boards, recruiters, creative agencies, online industry groups, job fairs, in-person networking events, and individuals requesting work on social media platforms. Have you exhausted all of your options? Someone out there is looking for your expertise but they can’t find you because you have not made yourself…
